A Place for Color
30.3. – 17.4.2011
Galleria Huuto Uudenmaankatu
The three-dimensional works of my exhibition Värin paikka (“A Place for Color”) are based on the removing or the adding of colors. Sometimes a whole is formed by removing rather than adding as color sweeps away entire elements. In my works, color does not react realistically but is a three-dimensional piece. By means of visual play but nevertheless without letting go of reality, I take a step towards the imaginary.
Lautanrakentaja (“The Raftbuilder”) is a story about the moment just before a raft touches the surface of water. Without the raft, water is not water. The encounter of the raft and the water is the key.
In Haudankaivajan päiväkirja (“The Gravedigger’s Diary”), the gravedigger keeps approaching his own grave. The diary is about days gone by and days to come, and about work done. Eventually, a human being size hole – the end of the story – is formed.
The exhibition has been kindly supported by the Arts Council of Finland.
