ALAN LICHT & TETUZI AKIYAMA
Alan Licht & Tetuzi Akiyama – electric guitars
Since the late 80s, Alan Licht and Tetuzi Akiyama have followed parallel paths in blurring the boundaries between rock and experimental music. Each collaborated early on with an elder statesman of the respective New York and Tokyo noise rock scenes (Licht with Rudolph Grey, Akiyama with Keiji Haino) and went on to define their own styles in various solo and group formats. On their most recent duo outing ‘Tomorrow Outside Tomorrow’ their shared sensibilities are intact, as Akiyama’s wobbly tones mesh with Licht’s oozing feedback. Ambarchi and cornetist Rob Mazurek were contacted to provide overdubs, making for two separate trios; the results were released by Editions Mego this spring.
Licht & Akiyama’s European tour is organized by Sound in Motion / Oorstof.

LAU NAU
Lau Nau is Laura Naukkarinen who lives on Kimitoön. She composes minimalistic folk worlds, film music and curious manouvres bordering on the edges of sound art. Lau Nau gigs around the world and this concert will be a starting point for her upcoming USA West coast tour. On Äänen Lumo Spring Festival Lau Nau performs deconstructed versions of her compositions, leaving space also for improvisation, builds pillows made from sound for the listeners can rest on.
Lau Nau eli Kemiönsaarella asuva Laura Naukkarinen säveltää minimalistisia folkmaailmoja, elokuvamusiikkia ja uteliaita koukkauksia nykymusiikin ja äänitaiteen rajoille. Lau Nau keikkailee ympäri maailmaa ja Äänen Lumon konsertti on lähtölaukaus hänen USA:n länsirannikon kiertueelleen joka alkaa seuraavalla viikolla. Äänen Lumon Kevätfestivaalilla Lau esittää pieniin osasiin purettuja versioita sävellyksistään jättäen tilaa improvisaatiolle, rakentelee äänityynyjä joilla kuuntelijat voivat levätä.

MYTTYS
Heta Bilaletdin – electronics, vocals
Samuli Tanner – electronics
MYTTYS = wavering dingdond-beats, static, murmur, shamelessly sugary melodies, singing, surprise-audio, smudge, pop and bombs.
“Samuli Tanner and Heta Bilaletdin beating on small samplers and synthesizers.”
The duo has released two albums: ‘Paksotal’ (Guggenhavn Archive 2014) and the new ‘Sloggilukio’ (Oma333 2016).
MYTTYS = huojuvia dingdong-biittejä, kohinaa, mutinaa, häpeilemättömän sokerisia melodioita, laulua, yllätys-audiota, suttua, poppia ja pommeja.
“ Samuli Tanner ja Heta Bilaletdin hakkaavat pieniä samplereita ja syntikoita. “
Duo on julkaissut 2 albumia: ‘Paksotal’ (Guggenhavn Archive 2014) sekä tuore ‘Sloggilukio’ (Oma333 2016).

TOMMI KERÄNEN & TOPIAS TIHEÄSALO
Tommi Keränen – electronics
Topias Tiheäsalo – guitar
Tommi Keränen has been actively making noise since the 1990’s. With over 30 releases and countless international gigs under his belt, Keränen has established himself as a heavyweight name in the Finnish legacy of noise. He has worked and continues to work with. Paal Nilssen-Love’s Large Unit, Japanese noise legends Incapacitants, Norwegian Testicle Hazard (duo with Lasse Marhaug) and Finnish improv thrash metalists Pymathon (with Tiheäsalo). He describes his style as “slippery”.

For the past 15 years Topias Tiheäsalo has been performing improvised music in festivals and concerts in Finland and around Europe. He plays free improv, jazz, noise and improvised thrash-metal both solo as well as in bands like Jooklo Quartet and Pymathon. He also makes live music for silent film screenings and collaborates regularly with improvising musicians, dancers and poets. Together with his four musician friends in Turku, he currently runs Himera: an association for experimental music, free jazz, improvised music and free rock organizing gigs, festivals and workshops.
SEIJIRO MURAYAMA & JEAN-LUC GUIONNET
Seijiro Murayama – percussion, voice
Jean-Luc Guionnet – alto saxophone
Japanese percussionist Seijiro Murayama entered the public eye performing explosive noisy rock in Keiji Haino’s Fushitsusha and KK Null’s APN. More recently Murayama has focused on so-called non-idiomatic improvisation, electroacoustic composition and plural disciplinary collaboration. Murayama’s stripped down instrumentation and technique brings to attention his utmost concentration and attention to detail.
Jean-Luc Guionnet is a French saxophonist, organist, improvised and composer. Guionnet is known from groups like the Ames Room with Will Guthrie and Clayton Thomas; his duo with Toshimaru Nakamura and collaborations with e.g. Eric La Casa. Guionnet’s command of his instruments allows his sounds to mutate effortlessly from one to another, making use of the vast possibilities of his instrument’s coloristic techniques and large dynamics.
The duo of Murayma & Guionnet is possibly one of the most exciting ones currently working in the field of acoustic free improvised music.

TUUKKA HAAPAKORPI
Tuukka Haapakorpi plays digitally processed sequences of synthetic instruments in order to achieve results related to contemporary improvised music, drone or South Indian raga-music, employing depersonalization and impersonality as an approach to synthesize extended technique.
OLLI AARNI
Olli Aarni’s music resembles a handcrafted minimalistic weave left gathering dust behind a couch. Aarni focuses on timbral characteristics and free meter rhythms. His mainly electronic, collaged sound worlds range from deep hum to stumbling noise – or get stuck wandering somewhere in between. Aarni has released around 20 titles, mostly on tape, in Finland and around the globe.
