Sometimes it happens in life that the floor moves under one’s feet. After a powerful transformation, nothing in a person’s life or environment remains the same. A change in my personal life resulted the Intial Pile -exhibition. At the beginning of a work process, there is always a pile of stuff. If the process is seen as growth, this initial pile is a seedbed for a collage. The chaos and randomness of life has thrown paper shreds, leftover pieces, sticks and found materials onto my studio table, forming a mountain. One has to start building a new arrangement.
The created arrangement is not simple or free of conflicts as the work shows the complexity of human life. Creating a collage is my attempt to address the fragmented world by building something new. The work may expand and become larger or grow inward, condensing below consciousness. By drawing I fly into a microworld, a universe, towards infinity.
The exhibition consists of collages on paper as well as paintings. The materials I have used include ink, watercolor, pencil, acrylic and oil paints. I have also added found objects into some of the works.
