“I have turned my back. I have switched from a whole to pieces. I have split events and my self-portraits into several parts and times. I want to paint myself in a detached and scattered manner, in many parts, from many angles at the same time. I want to find parts of myself that I cannot remember. Something I have forgotten existed.”
The themes of my paintings are close to me. They develop somewhere between a reflection, an imagined thing, an observation based on reality and a photograph. I use household items and myself as a model when I paint. It allows me to look for, observe and examine the self and the surrounding space. I sketch my outlines to keep them under control somehow. I am
interested in seemingly ordinary everyday moments that, on closer inspection, are in some disturbing way charged. My attention is drawn to the strange feeling that everything is not right. I want to explore this feeling by painting – the moment when something familiar and safe becomes strange, unpleasant or disturbed. Sometimes it is a fine line.
