What if you had a second change with the one that got away? goes the tagline for the film Before Sunset. My video work in the Galleria Huuto Viiskulma has the same name. A boy and a girl meet in a Hollywood movie and then meet again in Paris ten years later. I had a crush on a boy in Paris in 1995. Apart from a phone number written on a map with a lipstick there’s not much I remember of that boy. In spring 2005 I returned to Paris after a ten year break and tried to reach the crush of my past. My video is based on those experiences and the films Before Sunset and Before Sunrise.
The Luxembourg Garden (not too beautiful model) is a video and sound installation based on the Albert Edelfelt (1854-1905) famous painting The Luxembourg Garden, Paris (1887) and my stay in Paris. It’s also inspired by recent cultural research on Edelfelt and the problematics of the written history.
I am a fine artist and my main practice is video performance and video installation. I’m interested in the pictorial qualities of the video performance and the borderline between video and still photography and painting.
