Everyone Has Their Own Sound
16.10.-8.11.2020
My sculpture installation Everyone Has Their Own Sound was inspired by a memory of a trip to Asia during the rainy season. I stayed in a bamboo hut and as it got dark, I heard a strange sound that became louder. It sounded a bit like a didgeridoo concert. I walked towards the sound and ended up finding a pond and a group of large black frogs. The frogs were sitting side by side, reaching towards the sky and together creating the unusual, age-old sound.
Everyone Has Their Own Sound consists of a group of ceramic, bottle-like shapes. The sculptures were made using clay of different types and colors. While making them, I for example thought about the shapes that different sounds sound like and how everyone and everything has their own sound, even if you cannot hear it and even though they are often similar.
