Cynosure

To be seen and heard – is it the same as being loved?
By making ourselves as beautiful and perfect as possible, we end up further and further from the goal of being loved as we are. Making of my exhibition Cynosure I have forced myself to focus on what is unsafe and uncertain to me. I wanted to use oil paint in a nonchalant and physical approach.
I have always used other media in the past, e.g. photography, to make my paintings. For me, it has been important to hide myself and my thoughts behind the subject. This time I wanted to reveal my uncertainty, dare to take the risk that the result could fail.
Cynosure, according to encyclopedia, means: Someone or something that is so beautiful and perfect that it attracts all attention. I use that word with some irony. I have tried to look inward, dare to show the ugly, the sad and the aggressive in myself.
”Sometimes you just wish you were transparent, otherwise people might think you’re strong.”
