This exhibition consists of drawings from 2010 until 2018. They have never had a chance to fit into other exhibitions because they were somehow out of place, not really on the same line as the others. With some of them, I’ve been too embarrassed to think they could be shown. Some of them were just too clumsy, some of them too personal. Together they form a haphazard diary of sorts. Tests that were considered unsuccessful, orphans that never found a home.
Originally from Wisconsin, USA, Bergsten (b. 1979) moved to Finland in 2001. He graduated from the Free Art School in 2008. Bergsten’s works have been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions in Finland. The artist’s works are contained in many significant collections, including the collections of EMMA Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art and Rovaniemi Art Museum as well as the Finnish state art collection.
