Koskentola is a Helsinki-based artist. In his earlier works he has studied such concepts as alienation, loneliness and sleeplessness.
In his latest work ‘Making up my mind’ Koskentola maps the mental process of making decisions by vocalizing the internal dialogue that we all do when faced with a difficult decision; we weigh the pros and cons on conscious and subconscious level.
In my sound installation I reproduce the mechanisms of decision-making by vocalizing the internal dialogue that our brains have when faced with difficult decisions. An empty gallery devoid of images represents order into which the bouncing voices try to settle; sometimes successfully, sometimes creating a cacophony and painting contradictory images to the walls.
Patterns of thought emerge: some voices accentuate the previous messages; others have an opposing sound. This cycle goes on and on.
