For the past two years, I have sporadically filmed one of my favorite places. It is called Pajukarit or maybe Liljanluoto, I am not sure. Sometimes I can see a more defined islet in the river, but often I cannot. The Kokemäenjoki delta near the center of Pori has a life of its own. As the river shapes the landscape, maps struggle to keep up. The often inaccessible wetlands are close by, yet hard to reach and difficult to perceive.
My video work Pajukarit is a collage where different perspectives are composed into a single landscape. Changing weather conditions, times of day and seasons form a continuous stream of images. The time I have spent in this place is condensed and layered. Changing rhythms, order and disorder, growth and wilting go round and round.
I try to express an experience that resists representation. Working with the camera, breaking down and reassembling the material structure the observation. The sense of control is fleeting. The sensations generated by the place blend together and begin to fade. What remains is simplified into form. Pajukarit defies definition.

I am a visual artist living and working in Pori. My work focuses on digital media, although originally I am a painter. I started working with moving images mainly through performance art.
Thank you
