In the junction of printmaking activities quarrels and loud discussions are heard between objects, still images and motion pictures. Carefully staged traffic is delivered by slide and 16mm film projectors, electric light spits out abstract images. Small space is overcrowded by strong contrast of lights and shadows, made busy and hectic by non-stop running projections and the melody of the machinery. In this claustrophobic jukebox of the senses all participants of the orchestration try to obtain power over others.
Natalia Kozieł (born 1987) comes from Poland, but is nowadays living, working and having fun in Finland. In her art she moves between the worlds of painting and graphics. She often works with old optical machinery of slide, overhead and film projectors, through which she delivers her printmaking actions and seeks to control the exhibition spaces through sharp black and white contrasts. Dominant aesthetics are based on collage, montage and non-camera work, and at the very bottom, inside every of her visual art piece there is a theatrical or cinematic piece striving to get out.
