Higher Taste: Karma Free Paintings

My paintings are often based on rather randomly selected images from magazines and comic books as well as photographs I have taken and slides. Some of the works in the exhibition are based on various series of teaching material slides. The slides focus on the prerequisites of good life, for example the harmful effects of alcohol and smoking, the organization of health care, workplace well-being or environmental protection. Through the images, one forms a view of a citizen’s status and obligations. The painting process shows familiar and ordinary things in new contexts and makes one aware of the subconscious, forming a kind of a self-deprecating portrait.
I use painting and comics to create art. My work is characterized by an autobiographical approach, storytelling, humor and an expressive style.
