The name of the exhibition refers to the liquid nature of perceiving a space. Liquid is a state of matter with a definite volume but no fixed shape. The same could also be said about a landscape – you can sense the mass, but it is in constant motion and always more than the sum of its parts.
I use painting as a way to explore the human desire to interpret one’s environment and turn something unknown into something visual. I am intrigued by the nature of an observation and the question of what holds our observations together. I look for the signs and marks that without being defining are enough to trigger a memory trace or a representation of a place.
