Odo maran – the inner Udmurtia
Exhibition and mini-festival
Galleria Huuto Jätkäsaari 1
8–23 March 2014
The Odo maran – the inner Udmurtia exhibition and mini-festival compiles the Udmurtia Collective’s views on being Finno-Ugric based on a trip to the village of Yunda in Udmurtia during August 2013. The exhibition reflects on the trip to Udmurtia from various perspectives, using a variety of methods. Some of the works have been made by individual artists and they are based on personal experiences, while others are collective installations and performances that combine different forms of art. The perspectives range from a documentary travel story to a subjective and mysterious approach.
The exhibition at Galleria Huuto will also include events and concerts. For example the Stringpurée Band, a folk music/progressive rock band, will accompany old Finnish Kalevala-themed paper animations and musician Otto Eskelinen’s band Secretones will play tunes adapted to the soundscape of the village. In addition, there will be poetry readings in Finno-Ugric languages as well as a modern singing contest, in other words a rap battle.
