The artist is present Sat-Sun September 5-6 at 12-17.
My mother is nowadays a terrible dark night;
I myself am pale and ugly.
The fearful cold and missing courage,
the frost and tremor of timidity
creates my power and constant victories of falling sickness.
When I want to be destroyed here,
I need few weapons and equipment;
terror, sleep, shade,
sound, a surprising word, a shout,
an unexpected sight, a thought,
misunderstanding and error are my weapons,
my equipment and tools
that I use to attack myself
and destroy something greatly small.
Adapted from Georg Stiernhielm’s (1598–1672) poem “Fältskräck talar” (“Field terror speaks”).
The exhibition has been supported by the Alfred Kordelin Foundation.
Panu Rytkönen (b. 1983) is a Helsinki-based sculptor who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2008.
