Without Them We Love
10.2.-5.3.2023
The video installation Without Them We Love is a visual poem that has a starting point in the artist’s personal feelings of loss, grief and longing, but it also considers the question about how we can live without them we love. In an unbearably beautiful landscape, how to continue without the joy of sharing the experience. Somewhere comforting pieces of hope slowly start growing; a new beginning.
The work was filmed in a small French village during two gray winters of the pandemic. The projections form an entity; In the center of it is a flooding river that is pictured from day to day, in variable weather and light conditions and time of the day. In the smaller projections you can see reflexions and close-ups of the water’s surface as well as wintry plants and other details. An interpretation – if needed – is left to the viewers who can mirror their feelings and thoughts in the flow of images.
About the work: multichannel video installation, 4K video 16:9, 15:55 min, loop, soundscape including Nocturne No. 11 in F! minor, Op. 104/1 (1913) by the French composer Gabriel Fauré, performed by Chris Breemer (www.pianosociety.com.
