Sandra Schneider (b. 1990, Turku) is a Helsinki-based artist whose artistic work explores embodiment, materiality and the areas between conceptual and visual. Often her works focus on the fringes of the body, the area that both connects and alienates. Schneider is fascinated by abstract movements and spaces as well as language bubbles that she also tries to draw on and penetrate into when working. Her works are often poetic and follow the esthetics of touching.
Schneider is currently pursuing master’s studies in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts (University of the Arts Helsinki). In 2016, she earned a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Dundee. She has also studied at Konstfack in Stockholm and at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and her works have been on display at exhibitions in Finland and abroad. [ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ] is her first solo exhibition outside of the art school context.
The exhibition has been supported by the Greta and Alfred Runeberg Foundation and the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Helsinki.
