Shoreline
Galleria Huuto Jätkäsaari – Jätkä 2
10.3. – 1.4.2018
The works in the Shoreline exhibition are linked by the question of the narrative nature of an observation. The photographic and video installations get their visual form from marine and maritime imagery. We create routes and perceive directions, distances and turning points in terms of society, nature as well as our personal life story.
Shoreline is a border between what is told and left untold. The works deal with the inconsistencies of symbols, repeated in the world as demarcations – delimiting opportunities, options and existence both rhetorically and concretely.
Nuutti Koskinen (b. 1975) is a Helsinki-based media artist. His works combine video installations, sculptures and photography. A repeated theme in his works is the reflection of a human’s relationship with their environment and society and how it develops under the influence of power, politics and mythologies. Koskinen graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2011. He lives and works in Helsinki and Suomusjärvi.
The works have been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
