Something Between the Door
21.4. – 9.5.2010
Galleria Huuto Uudenmaankatu
Building day 21.4.
Discussion and refreshments 7.5. klo 17-19
We are Helsinki -based artists who have been working together from time to time since the end of 2007. Our work is based on wanting to explore the borders of installation, sculpture and performance. It interests us to include the process as part of the work being made. We look for a form that would live and breathe as part of the surrounding moment and context, of which it is made and in which it situated.
The work now presented at Huuto Gallery: “something between the door” is a processual work that is constructed from the presence of the moment in play and dialogue with visual structures. We are sincerely interested in where the boundaries of expressive of art are located. A form, which simultaneously deteriorates and is constructed is the object of our interest; we seek a fragile and breaking form for our work, somewhere between the edges, forms and structures of art. The questions of presentation are also central in our work, the viewer of the piece is located somewhere between looking and being – the surrounding reality and the image of it blend together to form our piece.
Building the work in the gallery space is integral to the work, we want the live situation and people involved in the building process to become parts of the work. For this reason the work is still being made in the gallery space when the exhibition opens on 21st April. You are welcome to witness the birth of the work in the gallery. On May 7th we will organize an event with discussion and refreshments, warmly welcome.
Exhibition has been kindly supported by Suomen kulttuurirahasto, Taiteen keskustoimikunta and AVEK.
