Perversioita ja nihilismin paloa

In today’s society, the establishment consists of extremely thin-skinned people who seem to feel insulted even by the slightest criticism directed at them. Nevertheless, their sensitivity does not stretch to so much as understanding other people’s difficulties, let alone their feelings. Quite the contrary: To the establishment, other people appear as objects that can be treated – or mistreated – arbitrarily. The rulers never take responsibility for their acts since they believe that other people, the objects, are the ones to blame.
What with power transferred to these narcissists constantly parading themselves, ordinary people become, from the point of view of the establishment, a large marginal group. This turns the entire western society into something absurd: A minority suffering from a character disorder rules the sounder majority. Can a society like this be respected anymore? Does the man on the street have any other choice of attitude than nihilism, disrespect for anything and everything – the attitude of the ruling elite for ages.
My paintings are an attempt to portray this unnatural, pervert state of affairs. My figurative works combine comics-like elements with the organic richness of baroque paintings. By means of surrealism, I intend to highlight the absurd subjugations and the glut of superfluities of today’s society.
