WHEN THE GAME IS ART, EVERYBODY WINS!
A working group consisting of Galleria Huuto member artists takes part of Art Fair Suomi with the collective piece The Great Wheel of Fortune.
Huuto’s booth is a carnival-like performance that uncovers the random relation between arts and economy. The space is dominated by a large, colourfully lit and self-made Wheel of Fortune, which we are selling lottery tickets to.
Prizes are “fine”, precious art pieces as well as copies, pieces found or defined as worthless. The prizes are partly conceptual, pointing critically at the conventions of ownership, authority and originality. Many member artist of Galleria Huuto have participated by donating artworks and gener-ating ideas.
Every day there’s also special prizes like art focused texts and the ’’changing a point of view – from grassroots to ivory tower : a festive sightseeing tour on Gallery Huuto’s man lift with executive director’’.
The resources that have been used to make this piece are visualised on the Great Wheel of Fortune by sectors, such as working hours, the budget etc. In the same time The Great Wheel of Fortune and its prizes also give information about Galleria Huuto activities and its member artists.
The Great Wheel of Fortune participated SUPERMARKET 2019 – Stockholm Independent Art Fair in Stockholm, where the main prize was an exhibition opportunity in Galleria Huuto’s exhibition space IV in spring 2020.
