Tuuli Saarekas
An Intersecting City, Home
4.-27.2.2022
The artist is present Sat-Sun 12-13 February at 12-17.
My exhibition “An Intersecting City, Home” at Huuto II features works created using different techniques, and they are all conceptually related to a city. The works include digitally produced images, drawings, hand-woven textiles and three-dimensional works combining different materials and techniques. Perhaps the best way to describe them is to call them “urban collages”.
My works focus on urban life, in particular: one’s movement from home to the city and back and life inside and in the middle of rectangular shapes.
My works are based on my home city of Helsinki, but their aim is rather to together create an image of another, imaginary city. The silhouette of the city at night reveals strange plants, and the wall of an apartment building is actually made of wool. My city is under construction and a work in progress, as are its residents.
